This was announced today, 7 January, on the air of a national telethon by Mayor Igor Terekhov.

The mayor said that last year, more than 2,500 buildings in the city were damaged or destroyed as a result of hostile attacks. Reconstruction work was carried out at 100 sites.

‘It is very difficult to work when there is still a possibility of shelling. We are attracting funds from the city and state budgets, as well as assistance from international partners, to consolidate all opportunities for rebuilding the city,’ the mayor stressed.

Igor Terekhov also noted that investments from foreign partners are being directed to the creation of a so-called ‘energy island’ that will ensure decentralisation of life support systems in Kharkiv.
