All communities in the Kharkiv region have joined the Association of Frontline Cities and Communities Today, October 16, 56 communities in the Kharkiv region signed memoranda of intent to join the Association of Frontline Cities and Communities.

The event took place during a meeting between community leaders and the head of the Association, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

He outlined the main areas of work with frontline communities on which the Association is already focused: security, demining of territories, overcoming the consequences of hostilities, psychological rehabilitation of the population, establishment of emergency warning systems, and support for families of military personnel and civilians affected by the war.

"Creating conditions for people to return, for the development of young people and children - that is the main thing. Because if there is no population, then who is the reconstruction for? We need affordable housing, promising jobs, public safety, quality healthcare, and education. And, no matter how difficult it may be, we must do this now. Sooner or later, the issue of post-war reconstruction will arise for our communities. That is why we created our Association. We want to unite the efforts of local self-government and the state around a single strategy to support frontline territories and their further restoration," said Ihor Terekhov.

The work of the APMG will result in joint interregional pilot projects in the areas of safe education, housing restoration and renovation, energy sustainability, and critical infrastructure modernization. The Association is currently focused on advocating for the preservation of 64% of personal income tax in frontline communities and improving the education funding system in the relevant territories.

It should be noted that more than 50 communities in Sumy and Chernihiv regions have already signed memoranda of intent to join the APMG. Communities in the Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Kyiv regions have supported the initiative to create such an association of communities.

Local council sessions are ongoing, where decisions are being made regarding the membership of communities in the Association of Frontline Cities and Communities.
